Peo Watson and Mika Frojman have known each other for 20 years now. In 2004, they produced "Chicago 72” which was discovered in 2018 at the 'Cercle' of Solomun session due to Solomun playing it as an intro in his set. This got the 2 back to work and after that, they shown a lot of magnificent things.
After their last successful EP Signs of Sorrow last year, they’re ready for something new. Dust & Blood, the brainchild of Damon Jee, together with Kimshies are ready to come up with superbly forward-looking and sleek new sounds that will take you through several dimensions.
Opener, ‘Blue Planet’, starts off with classic bass lines, stomping rhythms and a post-punk vocal, all competing in the unique challenge of pleasing the audience in a deep-thinking way.
Followed up by ‘Cortex Five Senses’, a ride you will not want to get off. This time the approach is more deeper, pacy and hypnotic. A clear vocal swirls comes closer and they are letting their unique grunge-vibe shine through. It is a number that stirs the body and gets people sweating, leaving the listener longing for more.
‘Trapped’ goes back to those slightly older roots. Starting with a classic beat and the robotized voice of Erick Faulkner to analogy soundscapes emanating from modular synthesizers. The end of the track will leave you floating.
As the 4th track starting with an thrilling beat followed by metronomic percussion's, a female voice and some guitar pieces from the wild west, that transports the listener to a daydream of futures past. This along with a horse-riding ending that defines the title ‘Cowboys Don't Cry’.
Last but not least there is ‘Coming Out’ that’s closing the EP. Overall a more sinister and tougher track that awakens your darker demons. No better way to end with industrial synths, drums, and martial beats bathed in darkness.
All this on the ‘Dust & Blood’ label. The work of art that Damon Jee has been working on for a long time and on which a lot of great content has already been released. The Blue Planet EP of the French duo will certainly not disappoint on its release on April the 7th.
